Band Info:

Round the House presents a mixture of songs and energetic Irish traditional dance tunes (jigs and reels and hornpipes, just to name a few). We bring authentic Irish music, with a twist of Tucson, to stages throughout the southwest. The lineup is Claire Zucker on vocals and bodhran, Sharon Goldwasser on fiddle, Dave Firestine on mandolin, banjo and bouzouki, and Mark Robertson-Tessi on guitar, bouzouki, and mandolin. Round the House's 2004 CD 'Til the Wee Hours was named best new release by Tucson readers and was featured on NPR All Songs Considered website. Five-time winners of the TAMMIE award for best traditional/ethnic band in Tucson.

The String Figures are an acoustic hot-pickin' trio that plays bluegrass and swing numbers in an open, improvisational style. Every show is different! Master guitarist Greg Morton knows all the chords and plays hot solos with a distinctive cross-picking style. Heather Hardy plays a fiery fiddle and sings. Mark Robertson-Tessi plays mandolin, bouzouki, and guitar with clear, high-energy tone and rhythm. Jim Stanley locks down the rhythm on bass. Greg and Mark's previous band was voted the Best Bluegrass Band in Tucson by Tucson Weekly readers, in the 2004 Tammies Poll. Our shows feature some of the best progressive acoustic music playing to be found in the southwest. The material spans bluegrass, swing, and western traditions, as well as some newer material. Come down and have a good time!

The Weeds are fronted by five-string banjo and guitar maestro Tim Weed. Also includes Debbie Daly on guitar, vocals, and percussion, Rob Paulus on bass and violin, and Mark Robertson-Tessi on mandolin and vocals. The band performs a wide range of music, from original classical compositions to latin infused songs.

Bands I sit in with on occasion:

The Determined Luddites are a high-energy acoustic quartet. Recently voted the Best Folk Band in Tucson for the second year running by Tucson Weekly readers, in the 2005 Tammies Poll. The lineup is Dan Hostetler on guitar, mandolin, and vocals, Dan Davis on mandolin, mandola, guitar, and vocals, Donny Russell on mandoin and vocals, and Randi Pantera on bass and vocals. They play an eclectic mix of originals, fiddle tunes, old jazz standards, Celtic music, and more. I played with the group for five years, and still sit in with them on occasion. The also have an alter-ego surf band called Big Galoot.

Brandi Miller plays an eclectic style of new folk and bluegrass. Her songwriting is poetry in motion; upbeat and soulful. An old style, sung with a fresh voice, her melodic, “tells it how it is” storytelling is reminiscent of the influences she heard growing up: Paul Simon and Bob Dylan. She will take you there and back again, only to return with a big, bright smile on your face.

The BarnJazz Ensemble plays swing, Irish and bluegrass music. Headed up by "Diamond" Jim Hewitt on fiddle, the lineup also includes Slim Edelman on guitar, Mark Robertson-Tessi on mandolin, and Evan Dain on bass.

The Street Minstrels play a wide variety of music including Classical, Renaissance, Jazz, American Standards, and Irish and other Ethnic Folk Music. The lineup includes Frank Ross on guitar, Jay Vosk on flute and clarinet, and David Rife on violin. I play mandolin with the group on occasion.

The Wayback Machine is a cover / jam band. The core of the machine is Jim Lipson on percussion and harmonicas, Tom Woolley on guitar and bass, Bev Seckinger on bass and guitar, and Steve Kemble on drums. An ever changing lineup of guests makes every show different.
